“Aurore Valade creates images that play with the iconic register of scenography.
She photographs people playing their own role, in their own homes.
In these very elaborate stagings, we are often confronted with clichés,
meaningful reflections of a social, economic or cultural situation in contemporary
life but also certain values that raise questions about the limits of the private sphere.
This ambiguous and chaotic staging aims to subvert the viewerís unconscious. The different
worlds reconstructed here speak of the relationship between a form of dreamed life and a
reality that yearns to escape the constraints of the humdrum and the mediocre.”
