Augustin Rebetez

Augustin Rebetez (b. 1986) is a Swiss multidisciplinary artist working across painting, photography, video, sculpture, installation, and mobile art. In a remarkably short time, he has built a distinctive and powerful body of work that channels his vivid inner world through bold, dynamic forms and varied media. Rebetez’s art constructs a surreal, personal universe populated by masked figures, animal-like creatures, and tragicomic characters, all part of an ongoing visual narrative that is darkly humorous, symbolic, and charged with subconscious imagery.

Influenced by outsider art, folk art brut, and tribal aesthetics, Rebetez blends raw expression with ritualistic themes, creating artworks that feel rooted in ancient mythologies, legends, and ceremonial traditions. His pieces oscillate between dream and nightmare, playfulness and seriousness, forming a rich visual language that defies easy classification. Often described as a modern alchemist, Augustin Rebetez incorporates movement, sound, and storytelling to transform everyday reality into poetic, surreal fictions.
